The researchers at MedUni Vienna successfully acquired third-party funding, e.g. for the following projects.
FWF Special Research Programmes und PhD Programmes
The aim of the special research programmes is the creation of research networks on an international scale through autonomous focus creation at a university location, to work on inter/multi-disciplinary, long-term elaborate research topics. PhD programmes are meant to be training centers for qualified young academics from the national and the international scientific community. They are meant to support the creation of scientific focuses at Austrian academic institutions and to promote the continuity and the impact of such focuses.
The Christian Doppler Forschungsgesellschaft promotes application-oriented fundamental research. The CD labs bridge the gap between fundamental research and industrial application. These research institutions are set up by highly qualified scientists at universities and other academic institutions in cooperation with the business community.
The Ludwig Boltzmann Gesellschaft is a non-university research institution for the fields of medicine, humanities, social sciences and cultural studies based in Austria. Special focus lies on translational research, that is, the work at the interface between fundamental and applied research.
The initial funding of especially innovative interdisciplinary and translational research projects is enabled by the creation of research clusters between the faculties and centers of the University of Vienna and the Medical University of Vienna.
MedUni actively participates in international EU projects. This way, cross-border relationships can be established and used strategically, to enable large research projects.
